The Apollo pole pod is a new pole section roost that is just hitting the shops now.
It’s very similar to the Milo Rocket launcher type roost in the way it attaches to your box, although it doesn't have any supporting legs on it.
The Apollo roost has a tightening lever underneath which tightens the roost in any position you require.
The Roost is made from a hard wearing plastic which means its incredibly light to carry, but is also very easy to assemble when you get to the bank.
The lever tightens the roost more than enough so the roost doesn't collapse when it has top kits on it.
The arms that take the top kits just slot in to the body, and the base arms even have smaller holes in the bottom to accommodate top kits that have 'puller bungs' on them.
The kit pod comes with a 25mm attachment which will go on either round or square legs, although as you can see from the picture it is easy to adapt the kit pod to fit a D36 Rive leg. I simply drilled out the rivet and added a washer to fill up the space left when I slotted it into a D36 clip one. Then I drilled and riveted the pod to the Rive attachment. 'Simples!!!!!'
The Apollo kit pod comes with its own carry bag to keep it all together and breaks down small enough to be easily carried in a carryall.
The Apollo kit pod is being distributed through 'Mosella' and retails at £59.99, which is a lot less than the Milo rocket launcher and the Rive roosts.
I understand that Garbolino are also bringing out the same product very soon, so look out for those in your local shop.
I have been using this product for a while and have to say I have been really impressed by it.
Its light, easily assembled and keeps your top kits safe and out of the way while fishing, but also at hand when you need to change kits.
Like lots of anglers I tend to have my top kits lying in the grass next to me, but they do get caught up in grass and weeds and can easily be stepped on and broken. The Milo roost was something I had for a while but was heavy and cumbersome to carry around.
This kit pod scores on all fronts, being light and taking up minimal room.
Looks good, but does it wobble and move about alot like the likes of the preston roost kit that just attaches onto your box and has no connaction to the ground? Or have you found it nice and stable without supporting legs?
So long as your box doesn't wobble then this kit is as solid as a rock. I've recently bought one and it attaches perfectly to my Rive D25 legs and doesn't move at all. Possibly its best feature is that it packs down into a very small space and takes up minimal room in your carryall. In my opinion it's the best solution for storing your top kits at a good price.
